Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended a heartfelt invitation to travellers across India to experience the breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality of Jammu & Kashmir. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) held at the Mahatma Mandir Convention & Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Highlighting Jammu & Kashmir’s year-round appeal, Omar Abdullah said, “J&K continues to offer diverse travel experiences — from snow-capped mountains and spiritual destinations to adventure and cultural tourism.” He also emphasized the growing travel exchange between Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir, assuring the state government’s commitment to positioning J&K as a premier, all-season tourism destination.
In a heartwarming moment of cross-regional camaraderie, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to praise the Chief Minister’s visit to Gujarat. The Prime Minister’s post came in response to Omar Abdullah’s tweet about a morning run at the Sabarmati Riverfront during his stay in Ahmedabad.
I’m a firm believer that travel broadens the horizons & the mind @narendramodi ji. It’s especially important for us in J&K as tourism is a crucial part of our economy & has the potential to gainfully employ lakhs of people. That’s why I & my colleagues are trying to convince more… https://t.co/HJM0QQkQHW

“Kashmir to Kevadia! Good to see Omar Abdullah Ji enjoying his run at the Sabarmati Riverfront and visiting the Statue of Unity. His visit to SoU gives an important message of unity and will inspire our fellow Indians to travel to different parts of India,” wrote PM Modi on platform X.
Omar Abdullah had earlier shared his thoughts on the visit, posting:
“While in #Ahmedabad for a tourism event, I took advantage of being here to get my morning run at the famed Sabarmati River Front promenade. It’s one of the nicest places I’ve been able to run & it was a pleasure to share it with so many other walkers/runners. I even managed to run past the amazing Atal Foot Bridge.”
Political observers noted the Prime Minister’s reference to “Kashmir to Kevadia” — linking Omar Abdullah’s home state with the site of the Statue of Unity — as a symbolic message of national unity and cross-cultural appreciation.
The friendly exchange between the leaders was welcomed by netizens and tourism stakeholders alike, who see this as an encouraging sign for domestic tourism and interstate goodwill.
The Travel & Tourism Fair in Gandhinagar brings together tourism boards, travel agencies, and hospitality stakeholders from across India, promoting regional tourism and encouraging cultural exploration.
