Who Can Apply for SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026?

This recruitment is not a general SBI Clerk recruitment. It is a special drive meant only for SC, ST and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates against backlog vacancies.

General/UR and EWS candidates are not eligible under this particular advertisement.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have:

• A Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
• Candidates appearing in the final year/semester of graduation may also apply provisionally, provided they pass their graduation by 31 December 2026.
• Candidates holding an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) must have the required passing date on or before 31 December 2026.

SBI Clerk Salary 2026

The Junior Associate post carries a structured pay scale beginning from a basic pay of ₹26,730 for graduates, including two advance increments admissible to graduates.

The notification states that the total starting emoluments in a metro city such as Mumbai are approximately ₹46,000 per month, including applicable allowances.

Selected candidates may also receive benefits such as provident fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme, medical benefits, leave-fare concession and other facilities as applicable under SBI rules.

SBI Clerk Selection Process

The selection process consists of three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination
2. Main Examination
3. Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT), where applicable

Phase I – Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Exam will carry 100 marks and will have a total duration of 1 hour.

There will be 1/4th mark negative marking for every wrong answer.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Exam based on their aggregate Preliminary Exam marks.

Phase II – Main Examination

The Main Examination will carry 200 marks with a duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.

There will also be 1/4th negative marking for incorrect answers.

For final selection, Main Exam marks will be considered. Preliminary Exam marks will not be added to the final merit score.

Local Language Proficiency Test

Candidates who have not studied the specified local language of the State/UT in Class 10 or Class 12 will have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test after qualifying the Main Exam.

For Jammu & Kashmir, the specified language mentioned in the vacancy table is Urdu/Hindi.

Candidates who fail the required language test will not be offered appointment.
