Jammu Heat highest coldest day

The Jammu region continues to reel under an intense heat wave, with Samba recording the highest temperature of 44°C, making it the hottest place in the area. According to the Meteorological Department, the scorching conditions are expected to continue for the next five days, with a slight weather disturbance likely on Monday evening.

Dr. Mahender Singh, Chief Scientist of the Agrometeorology Department at SKUAST-Jammu, confirmed that Jammu witnessed the season’s highest temperature so far. He warned that the mercury could rise further in the coming days. However, a temporary relief in the form of windstorms and brief thundershowers is expected on the evening of June 9.

Dr. Singh also cautioned the public about the increasing intensity of ultraviolet rays, which pose a significant health risk, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. “Children and the elderly should avoid direct exposure to sunlight during peak hours. Everyone is advised to stay hydrated and consume plenty of fluids,” he said.

Speaking on the monsoon, Dr. Singh noted, “This year, the monsoon is advancing by about a week and is expected to reach Jammu and Kashmir by the third week of June. Pre-monsoon showers are likely around June 20–21 in the Jammu region.”
