The J&K Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has decided to defer the J&K Combined Competitive (Mains) Examination-2016 of general studies (paper I & II), general English and essay in English, which were scheduled to be held on February 15 and 17 in view of the closure of highways due to snow.
The next date for these papers is yet to be notified. The rest of the schedule will remain unchanged. The examination will commence on February 19 and will be conducted at the venues already notified.
The decision was taken keeping in view the road blocks on National Highway.
Some candidates had demanded to postpone the JKPSC KAS exams due to harsh weather conditions and road blocks due to snowfall in Kashmir. JKPSC Chairman, Lateef-ul-Zaman Deva said that the commission is going to have a meeting to understand the issue more clearly.

“We are looking into the demands of deferment of the exam. We are meeting today to look into the reports of candidates stuck on highways due to recent snowfall,” said Deva as reported by Times of India.
This can also be other reason for postponement, recently the KAS aspirants asked to submit forms for mains examination at the last moment on High Court orders are seeking postponement of the examinations.
The High Court last week directed that 429 candidates dropped in the revised list of prelims result be included in for the main examination after which the Public Service Commission asked them to submit form the examination scheduled for February 15.
On February 8, the commission asked these 429 aspirants to submit their forms along with all the documents within two days. The aspirants said it was not possible for them to submit form as on 9th February Kashmir was closed because of a strike and the 10th was a bank holiday. The date was later extended to Feb 12.
The aspirants accused PSC of putting them under tremendous stress by denying them enough time for prepare for the examination.
Aspirants who talked to the online media, said that while other aspirants were given 30 days to submit forms, they got few odd days to submit the forms and prepare for the exam as well.
The decision in this regard was taken today during a meeting of the PSC to review the arrangements made for the J&K Combined Competitive (Mains) Examination-2016.
