VIP Air Travel Costs Jammu & Kashmir’s Exchequer ₹14.85 Crore over the Past Four years

In a recent reply in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Council, the Jammu and Kashmir government has revealed that a total expenditure of Rs 14.85 crore has been incurred on chartered flights over the past four years. In response to a query raised by MLA Shopian, Shabir Ahmad Kullay, the government confirmed that all expenses were made following the necessary procedural formalities.

Furthermore, the administration clarified that prior to 2021, there were no chartered flight services utilized by the government. The introduction of these flights was aligned with administrative requirements and essential governance needs.

Breakdown of VIP Travel Expenses in 2024-25

In addition to chartered flight expenses, the government disclosed that a total amount of Rs 1.23 crore (Rs 1,23,12,245) has been allocated for VIP visits to Jammu & Kashmir during the financial year 2024-25.

The report highlights that this expenditure falls within the sanctioned budgetary allocation, ensuring that funds are utilized responsibly. Moreover, periodic audits are conducted to maintain financial transparency and accountability in these expenditures.
