Here is how the new Rs 20 note will look like

New notes of Rs 20 denomination will soon be launched in market. The Reserve Bank of India made the announcement on Wednesday.

Changes in new note

The new notes will be bearing inset letter ‘S’ in the number panel and signature of Governor Urjit Patel.

The RBI has also said that earlier notes will continue to be legal tender.Here is how the new Rs 20 note will look like

Ascending Font

The digits in both the number panels will now be ascending in size with the first three characters constant in size.

Intaglio printing replaced

The number ‘20’, RBI seal, Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait, RBI legend, Guarantee and promise clause, Governor’s signature, Ashoka Pilla emblem will now be printed in offset instead of intaglio.

The rectangular identification mark on the left of the note has also been removed.

Colour

There has been no change in colour though it might seem lighter due to absence of intaglio printing.

Latent Image

The vertical band on the right side of the Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait hitherto contained a latent image showing the denominational numeral “20”.The latent image was visible only when the banknote was held horizontally at eye level. This feature is no longer present.

Reverse

There is no change in the reverse of the banknote.
