A particular tshirt has become fashion frenzy these days and at the same time irked many “intellectuals”. The tshirt seems to be such a hit that it is being sold on advance booking of one week. While the tshirt is getting popular, some news portals are questioning it.

The art on the tshirt is depicting a scene from last year, when an alleged Kashmiri stone pelter, Farooq Ahmad Dar, was tied to the bonnet of a jeep and used as a human shield against violent mobs. Although this quick decision Major Nitin Leetul Gogoi of the 53rd Rashtriya Rifles saved many lives, some people called this action unethical. Parties and individuals who have a soft corner for Kashmiri separatism condemned the act but Major Gogoi was not only given a clean chit by the army but was awarded a chief’s commendation card a month later.

The tshirt is being sold online by tshirtbhaiya.com, and according to The Wire, the website is owned by Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga.

Although Dar has filed a defamation case against Bagga, the BJP spokesperson defends his stand saying that there is nothing wrong in wearing one’s patriotism one one’s chest and that he’s ready to face a hundred such cases.

Incidently, recently released film Baaghi 2 has also glorified the incident in the movie. In the movie, the character of Tiger Shroff has taken similar action defending the Indian tricolour.

In all, the fact of the matter is that we as Indians are proud of our army and stand by every offensive or defensive action of theirs. And we’re sure that Jammu youth would don this tshirt with pride.
