Haryana cadre IPS officer Shashank Anand has officially taken over as the Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) Jammu Frontier. He replaces D.K. Boora, who has been transferred to the BSF Headquarters in New Delhi.
BSF Jammu Frontier Confirms Appointment
The BSF Jammu Frontier confirmed the appointment via a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Shashank Anand has taken over as Inspector General, BSF Jammu Frontier.”
Anand, a 2006 batch IPS officer from the Haryana cadre, brings extensive experience in border security and management. His appointment marks a significant leadership change in the region’s security framework.
Senior Officers Welcome the New IG
Several senior officers of the BSF Jammu Frontier were present during the official handover ceremony. Following his appointment, IG Shashank Anand conducted discussions on key security challenges along the International Border (IB).

The BSF Jammu Frontier is responsible for securing 192 km of the International Border, covering Kathua, Samba, and Jammu districts. Additionally, it manages the security grid in parts of the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district.
