JKP Solve Extortion Case in Jammu’s Sarwal, Recover ₹20 Lakh

The incident came to light when Shudhama Sharma, a resident of New Plot, lodged a complaint with the police. According to Sharma, an unidentified individual entered his premises and threatened his son with a sharp-edged weapon, identified as a toka. Under duress, the assailant looted 175 grams of gold jewellery and ₹2 lakh in cash, amounting to a total loss of ₹20 lakh.

Following the complaint, Bakshi Nagar Police Station promptly registered FIR No. 17/2025 under the relevant sections of the law and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Suspect Apprehended in Connection with the Crime

As part of the investigation, the police team worked tirelessly to track down the suspect. Their efforts led to the arrest of Rahul Sharma, a resident of Ratnal, Bishnah. During interrogation, Sharma admitted to committing the crime and disclosed critical information about the stolen items.

Based on the accused’s confession, the police conducted a search operation and successfully recovered:

160 grams of gold jewellery
200 grams of silver
₹1.7 lakh in cash

The total value of the recovered items was estimated at ₹20 lakh, bringing significant relief to the victim. Additionally, the police seized the toka used during the crime, further strengthening the case against the accused.
