The Jammu and Kashmir Women’s U-23 cricket team kicked off their campaign in the Women’s U-23 One Day Trophy with an impressive 4-wicket victory against Jharkhand at the Sports Hub International Stadium in Trivandrum. This win was powered by an outstanding team effort, with speedster Mariya Noorain leading the bowling attack and strong batting performances from the opening duo of Bawandeep Kaur and Sheena Saraf. Additionally, an all-round display from skipper Rudrakshi Chib played a crucial role in securing the triumph.

Dominant Batting Display Leads Jammu and Kashmir Women’s U-23 cricket team to Victory

Chasing a target of 152 runs, Jammu and Kashmir’s openers set the foundation with a solid 87-run partnership. Bawandeep Kaur emerged as the top scorer, crafting a well-made 51 off 81 balls, hitting 9 boundaries in the process. Sheena Saraf provided crucial support with a patient 25 runs from 71 balls, which included three boundaries.

Despite a brief collapse where J&K lost three quick wickets, captain Rudrakshi Chib anchored the innings brilliantly. She remained unbeaten with a powerful 43-run knock off just 40 balls, smashing 7 fours. Ananaya Sharma also contributed with an unbeaten 9 runs, ensuring that J&K chased down the target comfortably in 47.2 overs.

Jharkhand’s Batting Struggles and Key Partnerships

Jharkhand, after being put to bat first, faced early troubles as their top-order crumbled to 32/5 in 13.3 overs. However, a resilient 75-ball 51-run innings from Shikha, supported by Chandmuni Purti’s 32 runs, provided some stability. This partnership helped Jharkhand reach a total of 152 runs in 44.4 overs.

Jammu and Kashmir’s bowlers were relentless, dismantling Jharkhand’s lineup with disciplined performances. Leading the attack, Mariya Noorain was the standout performer, claiming 2 wickets for just 22 runs in her 8 overs. Captain Rudrakshi Chib displayed her all-round ability by taking 2 wickets for 29 runs in 7.4 overs.
