Terms and Conditions of Service:
The terms and conditions of service are prescribed in the aforementioned Act and the rules made thereunder. Some key terms and conditions are as follows:
- The term of office for the Chairperson and Members shall be three years from the date they assume office or until they reach the age of 65, whichever is earlier.
- During their tenure, the appointed individuals shall not hold any other office.
- The Chairperson is entitled to a salary and allowances equivalent to those of a Principal Secretary to the Government or the salary and allowances last drawn in government service, whichever is higher.
- A Member is entitled to a salary and allowances equivalent to those of a Chief Engineer or the salary and allowances last drawn in government service, whichever is higher.
- If the Chairperson or Member is in receipt of a pension from previous government service, their salary shall be reduced by the amount of that pension.
- Before assuming office, the Chairperson and Members must take an oath of office and secrecy as prescribed.
- The Government may remove the Chairperson or Member from office by order, in accordance with the provisions.
