JMC is making some serious efforts to beautify Jammu city. JMC, in a single attempt is beautifying the city as well as showcasing Jammu’s rich cultural heritage with this move. The results could be seen on way to Satwari from Bikram Chowk.
Showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the state, the pillars of the 1.3-km Bikram Chowk flyover are being painted with beautiful wall artwork. This is also going to discourage posters which give an ugly look to the city.
The Municipal Corporation has hired professional artists for the purpose. Artists are also expressing the need to maintain these beautiful pictures over the years.
According to the Tribune, once the beautification of the Bikram chowk was complete, they would select more places for similar work.
Similar attempts were also made by the Jammu Development Authority in 2005, when artists agreed to beautify the walls of the road from Bikram Chowk to Satwari. But the paintings were damaged by rains and sunlight.
