Home Minister Rajnath Singh was here in Jammu & Kashmir for a 4-day trip beginning from September 9. Highlights of the visit are:
-The Home Minister said that solution to Kashmir problem is possible only through five Cs -Compassion, Communication, Coexistence, Confidence building and Consistency.
-Discussing the plight of the PoJK Refugees, he said that a package of Rs. 2000 crore has been allotted and will be disbursed by through Aadhar system. He also promised 3000 jobs to Kashmiri migrants.
-The Centre will run a special tourism drive for Kashmir to promote tourism in the state
-Centre is trying to give equitable development to all the 3 regions of J&K. Several projects are under implementation under PMDP
-Speaking on stone pelters, Mr Rajnath said that the security forces have been asked first time offenders and minors to be sent to rehabilitation centres and not jail.
-Mentioning the issue of the Article 35A, he said, “The Centre will do nothing that would go against the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people regarding Article 35A.” “While giving tributes to Kashmir policemen, the face of ASI Abdul Rashid’s daughter, Zohra was passing through my mind. We want every face in Kashmir to smile,” he said.
–Discussing development of the state, he added, “I have reviewed the progress on the implementation of Prime Minister’s developmental package for the state. From the initially slotted Rs 85,000 crore, it will now cross Rs 100,000 crore.”
-The Government has increased the compensation for those who get killed in ceasefire violations from Rs 1 lakh to 5 lakh
-Concluding his two-day visit to the Kashmir Valley, he also said that the situation here was improving and he could see “the green buds of peace on the trees”.
-Addressing a press conference in Jammu, he said that Pakistan is no interested in mending ties with India. He added that there have been 400 cease fire violations since 2014 and our security forces are giving befitting replies to Pak forces.
-The govt has also decided to construct 6000 Transit Accommodation in the Kashmir valley
-During his stay in Kashmir, Singh held a security-level meeting in Srinagar and visited Pulwama district in South Kashmir, which was the epicentre of last year’s protests, to interact with Jammu and Kashmir policemen and those from the central forces. In Srinagar, Singh met at least 55 delegations including leaders of various political parties and members from trade and tourism bodies and civil society forums
– In Jammu Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived on Monday interacted with more than 20 delegations from different walks of life.
