The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for multiple regions across Jammu and Kashmir, warning of light to moderate rain and thundershowers over the next 4 to 6 hours.
According to the latest bulletin, the IMD stated that many areas of North and Central Kashmir, along with parts of South Kashmir, Chenab Valley, Pir Panchal, and Jammu division, are likely to witness intense rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 50–60 km/h within the next 2 to 3 hours.
MeT Advisory: Avoid Shikara and Boat Rides
In view of the expected thunderstorm activity, the Meteorological Department has advised the public to suspend all boat and shikara rides, especially in regions like Dal Lake, for the next few hours.
“Generally cloudy weather with spells of light to moderate rain/thundershower is expected in most parts of North Kashmir, Central & South Kashmir, Poonch, Rajouri, Banihal, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, Doda, and Kishtwar,” an IMD official said.
