The long-awaited dream of a direct train service connecting Katra in Jammu to Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, is finally becoming a reality. The new winter timing for trains to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK)-Kashmir valley section were today approved by Northern Railway, Divisional Railway Manager. An order in this regard was issued today, as per online news reports for this transformative route, which includes the prestigious Vande Bharat Express and Mail/Express trains.

Train Timings Between Katra and Srinagar

1. Vande Bharat Express

  • Departure: Katra (SVDK) at 8:10 a.m.
  • Arrival: Srinagar at 11:20 a.m.

2. Mail/Express (Morning)

  • Departure: Katra at 9:50 a.m.
  • Arrival: Srinagar at 1:10 p.m.

3. Mail/Express (Afternoon)

  • Departure: Katra at 3:00 p.m.
  • Arrival: Srinagar at 6:20 p.m.

Inauguration and Launch

The inaugural service is set to be a landmark occasion, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to inaugurate the train on January 6, 2025. Regular operations are anticipated to commence around January 26, 2025, aligning with the Republic Day celebrations.
