In a heartbreaking incident, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ramnagar, Rajinder Singh Rana, a 2011-batch JKAS officer, and his minor son lost their lives after a massive landslide struck their Bolero vehicle near Salukh Ikhter Nallah, in the Dharmari area of Reasi district late Friday night.
The family was on their way from Dharmari to their native village, Pattiya, when tragedy struck around 10 PM, as per SSP Reasi Paramveer Singh. The landslide crushed their vehicle (JK02A-1624), resulting in the on-the-spot death of the SDM and his young son, who was in his lap at the time of the incident. The impact left the Bolero vehicle completely mangled.
Three other family members — Rajinder Singh’s wife, his cousin, and the cousin’s wife — sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
Officials Express Condolences
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep grief over the tragic loss, extending condolences to the bereaved family. He also instructed officials to ensure the best medical care for the injured and to extend full support to the family of the deceased officer.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo also mourned the untimely demise of Rajinder Singh Rana, calling him a sincere and dedicated public servant. “His integrity, commitment to duty, and service to the people earned him the respect of both colleagues and the local community,” Dulloo said in his condolence message.
