At the First Round Table Conference in London (1930), when many Indian princes sought to safeguard their privileges under British rule, Maharaja Hari Singh chose a different path. Unlike rulers who distanced themselves from the Indian freedom struggle, Hari Singh boldly declared:
“I have never disguised from my friends my warm support of the idea of an All-India Federation.”
This statement reflected not only his political wisdom but also his unwavering belief in India’s unity and future.
