In a significant step towards improving the delivery of assistance and addressing grievances of militancy-affected victims, the Office of the Divisional Commissioner Jammu has notified a dedicated helpline number—0191-2478995—to serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries and pending cases under SRO-43/ Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS).
As per the official notification, the helpline will facilitate timely support, grievance redressal, and smooth disbursement of benefits to the eligible beneficiaries in Jammu Division. The move is aimed at strengthening the communication between affected families and the concerned government departments.
“In order to ensure timely help and effective redressal of all pending cases concerning militancy-affected victims, and to facilitate smooth disbursement of benefits under SRO-43/RAS, the landline number 0191-2478995 is hereby notified for both public and departmental use,” the order stated.
The landline will be operational during official working hours and will be managed by designated staff trained to handle queries, provide status updates, and guide families through the process of claim settlements and documentation.
Wide Publicity and Departmental Coordination
The Divisional Commissioner has directed all concerned officers and field functionaries to ensure wide publicity of the helpline number so that eligible individuals can benefit from the service. Departments have also been instructed to treat this number as the official communication line for all SRO-43-related grievances and support matters.
This initiative comes in response to various representations received from affected families regarding delays in benefit disbursement and lack of clarity on case statuses. The helpline is expected to bridge the gap and improve transparency in handling such sensitive matters.
About SRO-43/RAS
SRO-43, part of the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme, provides government jobs or monetary compensation to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to militancy-related incidents. The scheme also supports individuals who have suffered permanent incapacitation due to such violence.
