Four brave police personnel laid down their lives while battling infiltrating Pakistani terrorists in the Ghati Heights of Rajbagh, Kathua district. Among them, martyr Balwinder Singh Chib upheld a heroic family tradition of sacrifice, spanning three generations. With his passing, the Chib family has now lost four members in the line of duty, cementing their legacy of patriotism and unwavering dedication to the nation.

Chib Family’s Enduring Patriotism

Balwinder Singh Chib hailed from Kana Chak village in Kathua, a place where his family’s sacrifices are deeply respected. The village has long honored the Chib family for their selfless service and commitment to the nation.

Deewan Singh, former Sarpanch of Chak Hariya village, proudly stated, “The Chib family is synonymous with bravery. Our village takes immense pride in their sacrifices. They have shown unparalleled courage, generation after generation.”

A Generational Legacy of Heroism

The Chib family’s tradition of sacrifice dates back to World War I. Balwinder’s great-grandfather, Prakash Singh Chib, was awarded the prestigious Victoria Cross for his exceptional bravery before attaining martyrdom. His brother, Shankar Singh Chib, also gave his life for the nation and was posthumously honored.

Balwinder’s uncle, Pritam Singh Chib, served in the Border Security Force (BSF) and was martyred while defending the country. Now, Balwinder has become the fourth member of the family to make the ultimate sacrifice, carrying forward an indomitable legacy of courage and patriotism.

Balwinder’s Brave Stand Against Terrorism

Balwinder Singh Chib, a dedicated and fearless police officer, fought valiantly against terrorists in Kathua before making the supreme sacrifice. His heroism in the face of adversity has left a lasting impact on his fellow officers and villagers alike.

Local residents remember Balwinder as a disciplined and kind-hearted individual. Sumit, his neighbor, shared, “He was always ready to help others and never had conflicts with anyone. His name will be etched in history as a true patriot whose sacrifice will guide future generations.”

A Family’s Pain and National Pride

Balwinder is survived by his wife, a daughter, and a son. His mother, devastated by the loss, fainted upon hearing the tragic news. “This pain is unbearable… I wish I had died instead of him,” she mourned.

Despite their grief, the Chib family stands tall with immense pride. One of Balwinder’s uncles, an ex-serviceman, declared, “He gave his life for the nation. Today, our family is honored. Bharat Mata Ki Jai! His sacrifice has made the country proud.”

Balwinder Singh Chib’s Journey in the Police Force

Balwinder joined the police force in 2000 during a special border recruitment drive initiated by then SSP R.R. Swain, who later became the Director General of Police (DGP). His dedication to duty was evident throughout his career.

His childhood friends fondly remember his passion for cricket and his disciplined nature. “He respected everyone and remained committed to his duty until his last breath. His sacrifice saved many lives from terrorist attacks,” recalled a close friend.

In honor of Balwinder’s bravery, the residents of Kana Chak village have urged the government to recognize his sacrifice and provide support to his bereaved family. They believe that acknowledging his heroism will serve as an inspiration for future generations.

The legacy of Balwinder Singh Chib will forever shine as a beacon of courage, patriotism, and sacrifice. His unwavering commitment to the nation will continue to inspire generations to come.
