Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced that 7,253 job vacancies, including Gazetted and Non-Gazetted posts, will be filled by the end of the year, as informed by the government in the Legislative Assembly. These vacancies span across 38 government departments, with recruitment being handled by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB). Furthermore, the JKSSB’s mandate has been expanded to oversee Non-Gazetted recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Government companies, boards, and other state-controlled entities to streamline hiring processes.

Junior Engineer and Higher Education Vacancies

  • 150 Junior Engineer (Civil) posts referred to JKSSB.
  • 476 out of 840 Higher Education vacancies have been filled.
  • 116 Non-Gazetted vacancies in Higher Education are under Finance Department scrutiny.

Health and Medical Education Recruitment

  • 56 Gazetted and 660 Non-Gazetted vacancies referred for selection.
  • 597 Lecturer posts in School Education Department sent to JKPSC between Nov 2024 and Jan 2025.

New Recruitment Reforms

To enhance transparency and efficiency in hiring, the J&K government has implemented key reforms:

  • CBT-Based Examinations: JKSSB introduced online computer-based tests.
  • Single Exam System: A unified test for multiple posts.
  • Interview Exemptions: Oral tests are waived for Level-6 posts, including Junior Engineers and Naib Tehsildars.
