Srinagar-New Delhi rail service to begin on January 26

In a strong push to enforce travel discipline and passenger safety, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has registered a sharp rise in railway revenue through sustained monthly ticket checking drives across stations and onboard trains.

Since the formation of the Jammu Division, ticket checking campaigns conducted between April 2025 and December 2025 have detected nearly 54,098 passengers traveling without valid tickets or with irregular travel documents. This enforcement resulted in a revenue recovery of approximately ₹3.73 crore, a significant milestone for the newly created division.

Railway officials described the achievement as remarkable, especially considering that the Jammu Division is operating with limited manpower and resources in its initial phase.

Railways Issue Strong Message to Passengers

Reacting to the development, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the figures clearly highlight the importance of traveling with a valid railway ticket.

“The revenue generated through these drives helps us provide world-class facilities, improved safety standards, and a better travel experience. We urge passengers to always carry valid tickets and motivate others to follow the rules,” he said.

The railway authorities also confirmed that ticket checking drives will be intensified in 2026, with a special focus on:

  • Preventing ticket fraud
  • Promoting digital payments
  • Enhancing transparency
  • Strengthening passenger-centric services

Officials added that these campaigns are not just about revenue but also about building financial discipline and trust in the railway system.
