The newly revamped AIIMS Vijaypur Sub Post Office has become the first AIIMS campus in India to host a Gen Z Post Office. This achievement marks a significant milestone for both India Post and AIIMS Vijaypur, positioning Jammu & Kashmir at the forefront of postal innovation.
The Gen Z Post Office was formally dedicated by Dr. Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, along with DSVR Murthy, Chief Postmaster General (CPG), J&K Circle. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shah Nawaz Khan, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Jammu Postal Division, senior postal officials, AIIMS faculty members, staff, and students. The event highlighted a shared vision of transforming traditional post offices into modern service hubs aligned with the lifestyle and aspirations of young citizens.
During the inauguration, dignitaries emphasized that the Gen Z Post Office initiative represents India Post’s commitment to innovation, accessibility, and customer-centric service delivery. The goal is simple yet powerful: make postal services relevant, efficient, and appealing to Generation Z while maintaining trust and reliability.

The Gen Z Post Office at AIIMS Vijaypur features a modern and vibrant ambience that breaks away from the conventional look of post offices. It offers digital payment options, streamlined processes, and simplified service delivery. Customers can access postal services, savings schemes, insurance products, and banking facilities under one roof. The integration of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) services ensures seamless digital banking for students, healthcare professionals, and the wider community associated with AIIMS.
On the inaugural day, India Post introduced a special cancellation mark exclusively for the AIIMS Vijaypur Post Office to commemorate its status as the first Gen Z Post Office in the Jammu & Kashmir Circle. All outgoing mail booked on that day carried this special cancellation, making it a collector’s item and a symbol of postal transformation.
A key objective of the Gen Z Post Office is to raise awareness about postal savings schemes, digital banking, and value-added services among young users. By placing the post office within an academic and healthcare campus, India Post ensures direct engagement with students and professionals who actively use digital platforms and online transactions.
This Gen Z-themed space also integrates advanced, tech-enabled services such as QR code-based processes and a ‘My Stamp’ printer, allowing customers to design and print personalized stamps instantly. This creative and interactive feature adds a unique touch that resonates strongly with younger users who value customization and instant solutions.
With the rollout of Gen Z Post Offices across campuses in India, India Post is redefining its role in the digital era.
