Here are the assets, income and other declarations by candidates faring in  Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections 2024: 

National Conference (NC) stalwart and ex-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has articulated a net wealth of ₹55.24 lakh, comprising ₹30 lakh in jewelry and other valuable items, ₹80,000 in cash, and the remainder in fixed deposits and bank reserves, with no liabilities declared. His annual earnings have swelled from ₹11.73 lakh in 2019-20 to ₹14.52 lakh in 2023-24, predominantly fueled by his pension as a former legislator and Parliamentarian.

Seasoned NC figure Abdul Rahim Rather reported an annual income of ₹11 lakh for the fiscal year 2023-24, ascending from ₹4.75 lakh during 2019-20, according to his affidavit. He holds movable assets valued at ₹28 lakh, while his spouse owns assets worth ₹29 lakh. In terms of immovable properties, Rather’s holdings are valued at ₹6.47 crore, while his wife’s assets are worth ₹4.30 crore, both reporting no liabilities, with pension as their income source. His financial disclosures in 2014 indicated assets worth ₹4.47 crore accompanied by ₹5 lakh in liabilities.

 Devender Singh Rana, BJP candidate from Nagrota Assembly constituency, is richest among all the contestants in Jammu division from various political parties for the scheduled Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. A former MLA and businessman turned politician, Rana has more than Rs 46.83 crore movable and immovable assets while his spouse has assets worth Rs 76.73 crores. As per the affidavit, filed by Devender Singh Rana along with nomination papers before the Returning Officer, he has Rs 9,13,18,837 movable assets, which include bank deposits, investments, shares of JAMKASH Vehicleades, Pathankot Vehicleades, Take One Television JAMKASH Biking Pvt Ltd, JAMKASH Foods and Hospitalities, J&K Bank Ltd and gold. His immovable assets include agricultural land worth Rs 1.8 crores at Malore, Doda; non-agriculatural land at Sunjawan (Rs 18 crore), Channi Himmat (Rs 3 crore+Rs 10 crore), Sidhra (Rs 2 crore), Hyderpora, Srinagar (Rs 1 crore) , commercial building at B C Road Jammu (Rs 60 lakh), residential buildings at Greater Noida, Pathankot, etc. As spouse of Rana has 15.74 crore movable and Rs 60.99 crore immovable assets, net worth of their combined assets is more than Rs 123 crores. Devender Rana has done B Sc Engineering (Civil) from NIT Kurukshetra.

From the Khanyar constituency, another prominent NC leader, Ali Mohammad Sagar, has observed a growth in his annual income, rising from ₹7 lakh in 2019 to ₹10 lakh in 2024, sourced from his pension. Sagar possesses movable assets amounting to ₹29 lakh, with his wife’s assets listed at ₹19 lakh. His immovable properties are valued at ₹3 crore, while his wife holds properties worth ₹4 crore. In 2014, he declared assets of ₹2 crore, coupled with ₹1 lakh in liabilities. He is a holder of a B.A. L.L.B. from Kashmir University.

Sagar’s son, Salman Sagar, entering the electoral fray for the first time with business cited as his income source, declared an annual income of ₹7 lakh, up from ₹5 lakh in 2019. His movable property is valued at ₹1 crore, including 1,560 grams of gold and a 24% stake in New Paradise Gas Agency. His spouse’s assets amount to ₹70 lakh, incorporating 1,855 grams of gold. Salman, a B.Com graduate from Commerce College, Jammu, owns immovable properties valued at ₹3 crore with liabilities totaling ₹95 lakh, consisting of a car loan and a gold loan. His wife, identified as a homemaker, has liabilities amounting to ₹66 lakh due to a gold loan.

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and erstwhile MLC Mohammad Khurshid Alam, who also filed his nomination, declared an annual income of ₹12 lakh for 2023-24, increasing from ₹4 lakh in 2019-20, with pension as his income source. His affidavit reveals movable assets worth ₹66 lakh and immovable assets valued at ₹14.50 crore, devoid of liabilities. His 2014 declaration indicated assets worth ₹8 crore with liabilities of ₹8.16 lakh.

Apni Party head Altaf Bukhari, who stands as the wealthiest candidate in Phase-II nominations, declared business as his income source with an annual income of ₹22 lakh, up from ₹17 lakh in 2019. His wife declared an annual income of ₹2.77 lakh, with movable assets exceeding ₹97 crore, inclusive of ₹1.25 crore in ornaments and valuables. Bukhari reported movable assets worth ₹4.30 crore and immovable assets worth ₹51 lakh, including land with marble deposits in Kupwara. His wife owns immovable property valued at ₹12 crore. Bukhari, who reported zero liabilities, had registered assets worth ₹84 crore in 2014 along with ₹22 lakh in liabilities. He holds a 1980 Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, and his wife is employed by FIL Industries Pvt Ltd.

NC leader Tanvir Sadiq, however, reported a dip in his annual income, which stands at ₹4 lakh in 2024, down from ₹4.50 lakh in 2019. His movable assets are valued at ₹30 lakh, while his wife, a dietician and entrepreneur, owns assets surpassing ₹1 crore, including ₹25 lakh in gold and two TATA dumpers. His immovable properties are valued at ₹3 crore, including an apartment in Delhi. Sadiq declared liabilities amounting to ₹1.80 lakh. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in IT and Management from Utkal University in Odisha, earned in 2003, with income sources cited as trading, and his wife’s from transport hiring.

NC’s veteran woman leader Shamima Firdous, contesting from Habba Kadal with pension as her sole income source, declared an annual income of ₹10 lakh, rising from ₹8 lakh in 2019. Her husband, a retired government employee, saw his annual income rise from ₹8 lakh in 2019 to ₹21 lakh in 2024. Shamima, who earned a B.A., L.L.B. in 1983, holds movable assets worth ₹20.40 lakh, while her husband possesses assets valued at ₹62 lakh. Additionally, she owns immovable assets worth ₹29 lakh, while her husband has properties valued at ₹2.50 crore. In 2014, she declared assets worth ₹3 crore with zero liabilities; however, her liabilities have risen to ₹13 lakh in 2024.

PDP leader and former Minister Asiea Naqash reported no increase in her annual income, which remained ₹4.90 lakh for 2022 and 2024-25. In 2014, she declared assets worth ₹4 crore with ₹16 lakh in liabilities, which have since evolved, with her assets increasing and liabilities decreasing. Her affidavit, with pension noted as the income source, lists movable assets worth ₹1.97 crore and immovable properties valued at ₹4.5 crore, with liabilities reduced to ₹5.49 lakh, primarily as a car loan.

Former Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Sheikh Imran, contesting from Khanyar as an Independent for the first time, noted a modest increase in annual income from ₹4.12 lakh in 2021-22 to nearly ₹5 lakh in 2024. He owns movable assets worth ₹5 crore, while his wife has movable assets valued at ₹28 lakh. Imran’s immovable properties are worth ₹1.50 crore, and his wife’s at ₹1.90 crore, with liabilities totaling ₹26 lakh. His income source is stated as business.

Former Srinagar Mayor Junaid Mattu, now an Independent candidate from Zadibal after resigning from the Apni Party, reported a decline in annual income. His affidavit indicates an income of ₹12.74 lakh in 2019-20, dropping to nearly ₹10 lakh in 2023-24. He and his wife possess only movable assets, including a car, gold, cash in hand, and bank deposits. Junaid, who graduated from Michigan State University in 2009, owns movable assets worth ₹2.11 lakh, with liabilities amounting to ₹2 lakh. His wife, employed in a private company, has assets valued at ₹45.58 lakh with a liability of ₹1.5 lakh as a bank loan.

Apni Party’s Ashraf Mir, who also participated in the Lok Sabha elections this year, declared an income increase since 2019, rising from ₹13.36 lakh in 2019 to ₹14.79 lakh in 2024. A 1995 MBA graduate, Mir owns movable assets worth ₹1 crore, while his wife possesses assets worth ₹1.50 crore. He owns immovable property valued at ₹30 crore with liabilities totaling ₹2.25 crore. In 2014, he declared assets worth ₹8.82 crore with zero liabilities. His income sources have been declared as business and pension.

BJP candidate from Budhal Assembly segment and former minister Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has Rs 17.26 crore immovable and Rs 3.22 crore movable assets in his name. These include cash, deposits in banks, shares of J&K Bank, Mahindra Scorpio and Creta cars, agricultural land worth Rs 1.84 crores in Koteranka, non-agricultural land worth Rs 6.90 crores at Chowadhi, commercial and residential buildings, shops, Petrol Pump etc. In addition, his wife has movable assets of Rs 1.03 crores in the form of bank deposits, cash and 1,2 kg gold jewellery besides immovable assets of Rs 70 lakh.

 BJP’s Murtaza Ahmad Khan has more than Rs 10 crore moveable and immovable assets, which include 6 Acres agricultural land, non-agricultural land worth Rs 6 crores at Sidhra Jammu and residential house worth Rs 2 crores at Mendhar.

Former Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari, BJP candidate from Surankote, has Rs 14 lakh movable assets while his wife has Rs 37.50 lakh moveable and Rs 56 lakh immovable assets. Educational qualification of Mushtaq Bukhari is 9th standard only.

Independent candidate and former MLA Choudhary Mohd Akram, who is son of Late Choudhary Mohammed Aslam (former Speaker and Minister), has Rs 2.58 crore immovable and movable assets. These include agricultural land, house at Channi Himmat, commercial and residential buildings at Lassana.

Former MLA and NC candidate Aijaz Ahmad Jan has immovable assets worth Rs 2.62 crore and moveable assets worth Rs 26,39,512. His wife has moveable assets of Rs 20,48,372.


Shamim Ahmad, PDP candidate from Poonch Haveli has Rs 1,25000 moveable and Rs 1.10 crore immovable assets.
Educational qualification of both Aijaz Jan and Shamim Ahmad is 12th standard only.


30-year old Yasuvardhan Singh, son of Late Rashpal Singh and NC candidate from Kalakote Sunderbani, is BA LLB from Jammu University and has moveable assets worth Rs 27,61,903, which include cash of Rs 50,000 and i-20 car.

Udesh Raj Sharma (32), son of Late Yashpal Sharma, who is contesting as Independent candidate from Poonch Haveli, is Bachelor of Dental Surgery. His moveable and immovable assets include Rs 1,75,000 cash, a Thar vehicle, Bullet motorcycle, land at Chowadhi Jammu, commercial building at Bus Stand Poonch etc, worth Rs 1.8 crores approximately.

Other prominent rich contestants having assets worth crores of rupees, include former minister and BJP candidate from Vijaypur, Chander Parkash Ganga (Assets of Rs 19 crore); former Minister and BJP candidate from Jasrota, Rajiv Jasrotia (Rs 13.88 crores); Ex MLC and BJP candidate from Bahu, Vikram Randhawa (Rs 12 crore); former Minister and BJP candidate from Samba, Surjeet Singh Slathia (Rs12.39 crores); former MLA and BJP candidate from Akhnoor, Rajiv Sharma (Rs 3 crore); Yudhvir Sethi, BJP candidate from Jammu East (Rs5.32 crores); former minister and Congress candidate from Jammu South (R S Pura), Raman Bhalla (Rs 4.6 crore); former Minister and Congress candidate from Jammu East, Yogesh Sawhney (Rs 4.5 crore), former Minister and Congress candidate from Basohli, Choudhary Lal Singh (1.75 crores), former Minister and Congress candidate from Billawar, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma (Rs 2.48 crores); former SSP and Independent candidate from Marh Assembly constituency, Mohan Lal Kaith (Rs 1.65 crores); DDC and Independent candidate from Bahu, Taranjit Singh Tony (Rs 7 crore).
Among other prominent contestants, former Minister and Congress candidate from Marh Assembly constituency, Mula Ram has assets worth Rs 90 lakh; BJP candidate from Kathua and former JKAS officer, Dr Bharat Bhushan (Rs 90 lakh); BJP rebel and Independent candidate from Udhampur East, Pawan Khajuria (Rs 2 crore); Congress candidate from Udhampur West, Sumit Magotra (Rs 3 crores); Congress candidate from Bishnah, Neeraj Kundan (Rs 32.28 lakh); National Conference candidate from Vijaypur, Rajesh Pargotra (Rs 1.34 crore); Congress candidate from Nagrota, Balbir Singh (Rs 23 lakh), PDP candidate from Jammu North, Darshan Kumar Magotra (Rs 1.12 crore).
