Jammu and Kashmir marked a historic moment in its sporting journey by hosting its first-ever International Kushti Dangal and Rustam-e-Jammu & Kashmir Championship 2025 at the iconic Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu, on 20 December 2025. The grand event showcased the power of traditional wrestling while celebrating unity, fitness, and cultural pride in the Union Territory.
Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, the international wrestling championship brought together top professional wrestlers from India, Iran, Russia, Georgia, and other countries, making it one of the largest and most prestigious kushti dangal events ever held in Jammu and Kashmir.
The mega sporting spectacle was formally inaugurated by Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, who highlighted the importance of promoting indigenous sports like kushti to inspire youth and preserve cultural heritage.
Ishaq Ahmad Wins Rustam-e-Jammu & Kashmir 2025 Title
The most anticipated bout of the evening was the Rustam-e-Jammu & Kashmir title match, where Ishaq Ahmad delivered an outstanding performance to clinch the coveted crown. Aamir Khan secured the runner-up position, while Diler Khan and Sadaq Gajansoo finished third and fourth respectively.

Thrilling International Wrestling Bouts
Several high-voltage international matches kept the audience on the edge of their seats. Dinesh Dankar registered a strong win against Tamarlan of Russia, while Balu Bodake from Maharashtra defeated Khetag of Russia in a closely fought contest. Tedo of Georgia overcame Bania Min of Jammu, showcasing exceptional technique and strength.
In other notable bouts, Hamid of Iran defeated Lucky Kohli of Punjab, Nadeem from Doda (Jammu & Kashmir) outplayed Irfan of Iran, and Arjun from Jammu secured a convincing victory over Mohammad of Iran.
The International Kushti Dangal 2025 not only elevated Jammu’s status on the global wrestling map but also reinforced the region’s commitment to reviving and promoting traditional Indian wrestling. The successful आयोजन is expected to encourage more international sporting events in Jammu and Kashmir and inspire local talent to compete on global platforms.
