The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet against two individuals for allegedly duping a man by posing as employees of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court and issuing a fake appointment letter.

According to officials, the case was registered following a complaint by a Pulwama resident, who was lured with the promise of a government job and provided with a forged appointment order and identity card purportedly from the office of the Registrar General, J&K High Court.

The accused, identified as Meharaj-ud-Din and Abdul Majid Khan—both residents of Pattan in Baramulla district—were found to be repeat offenders, with another chargesheeted case pending against them at Police Station Kreeri, Baramulla.

The investigation, led by Inspector Meenu Sharma and supervised by SSP Crime Branch Jammu, Benam Tosh, revealed that the accused had no links with the High Court and had fabricated all the documents involved.

A Crime Branch spokesperson confirmed that a formal chargesheet has been submitted before the Passenger Tax Court in Jammu, signaling further legal action against the duo.
