Gulchain Singh Charak passes away

Former Minister and president of Dogra Sadar Sabha (J&K), Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak today passed away at his Jammu residence.


He was 83 and is survived by wife, two sons, two daughters and grandchildren. Family sources said that Charak was not keeping well for the past some time. He was undergoing treatment in Delhi and now was at his home here for the past some time. He also remained admitted to the ICU of the Govt Medical College Jammu for a couple of days recently. He breathed his last at his Greater Kailash residence Friday evening.

Under his aegis, the Dogra Sadar Sabha and the Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha made numerous contributions to community and to society at large in Jammu. He was a true guardian of Dogra pride and Jammu’s voice. His legacy of service and unity will inspire forever.

The cremation will take place at Mandal (Utter Behni), at 11.30 AM on Saturday (Oct 18). The people from all walks of life expressed their grief and sorrow over the demise of Mr Charak and described him as staunch Dogra, a visionary and great secular leader.
