What is BioNEST: A Hub of Innovation and Economic Growth

The BioNEST Incubation Centre at Kathua has been jointly funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, and the Jammu & Kashmir Science, Technology & Innovation Council (JKST&IC). CSIR-IIIM Jammu acts as the Project Implementing Partner, ensuring scientific excellence and strategic management.

The incubator aims to serve as a robust innovation ecosystem, providing incubation, mentorship, and technical support to biotech startups, agri-entrepreneurs, progressive farmers, scholars, and youth not only from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh but also from neighboring states like Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.

BioNEST focuses on Agri-Aroma products, Phytopharmaceuticals, Natural Products, and Bio-based Innovations, aligning with India’s BioE3 Policy (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment). The center aims to bridge the gap between research and commercialization by offering advanced infrastructure, expert mentorship, and business development support.
