Vishnu, a tourist from Jaipur, described his experience as both freezing and mesmerizing. “It’s very cold, but there are plenty of activities to enjoy here,” he shared. Despite layering up with a jacket, sweater, and cap, Vishnu admitted to still feeling the chill. “The sun doesn’t seem to be coming out, but the snow from recent days has been incredible. Everyone should visit Kashmir.”
Devendra, another tourist from Kota, Rajasthan, echoed similar sentiments. “I visit Kashmir every year. It’s extremely cold, so wearing gloves and a cap is a must while exploring the area. Every facility is available here, but it can be expensive,” he noted.
He also encouraged visitors to take a boat ride on Dal Lake, savor the traditional Kashmiri kahwa (spiced tea), and immerse themselves in the region’s natural beauty.
Weather Forecast for Jammu & Kashmir
According to the Meteorological Centre in Srinagar, the weather is expected to remain predominantly dry through January 8 and 9. However, light snowfall is predicted at isolated locations between January 11 and 12.
A traffic advisory was issued for tourists due to the ongoing cold wave and the likelihood of shallow to moderate fog in parts of the Kashmir Valley and Jammu plains from January 7 to 10.
The forecast also indicates that the weather will continue to be dry on January 13 and January 15, offering a reprieve from severe snow-related disruptions.
