After the swearing-in ceremony, held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre, of 5 council of ministers including Chief Minister Minister Omar Abdullah, the J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday assigned the role of government business to the ministers.
In an official order, the LG said, “In pursuance of rule 4(2) of the Transaction of Business of the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Rules, 2019, I, Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, do hereby assign to the charge of the ministers, the government business as shown in annexure.”
Details of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah-led Cabinet: Who gets what portfolio:
- Deputy chief minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary will hold the charge of Public Works (R&B), Industries and Commerce, Mining, Labour and Employment, and Skill Development.
- The lone woman minister — Sakeena Masood (Itoo) has been assigned the charge of important ministries of Health and Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education, and Social Welfare.
- Javed Ahmed Rana has been allocated the departments of Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs.
- Javid Ahmad Dar will be the minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election.
- Satish Sharma has been assigned the charge of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports and ARI and Trainings.
- The order said any other departments/subjects not allocated to any of the ministers, shall remain with the chief minister.
