In Jammu, a vehicle reportedly used by Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar during his visit to the city was seized by Traffic Police for violating the Motor Vehicle Act (MVA).
The actor was in Jammu to inaugurate a Kalyan Jewellers showroom at Dogra Chowk. After the event, Akshay Kumar was dropped at the airport in a white Range Rover (CH01AL-7766) owned by an event management company.
Reason for Seizure
While returning from the airport to Dogra Chowk, the Range Rover was stopped by Traffic Police Jammu. Officials found the vehicle had black tinted glass beyond permissible limits, breaching visibility norms set under the MVA. The car was immediately seized.
Police Statement
SSP Traffic Jammu, Farooq Qaiser, confirmed the seizure but refrained from directly linking the vehicle’s usage to the actor.
“I don’t know whether Akshay Kumar used this vehicle or if it belonged to a company associated with the event. But a Range Rover was definitely seized at Dogra Chowk for plying with black tinted glass in violation of the law,” he stated.
Background
The Motor Vehicle Act strictly regulates the level of tint allowed on vehicle windows in India. Any glass film that reduces visibility beyond the legal limit is prohibited for safety and security reasons. Violators face fines, and in some cases, vehicle seizure.
This incident has sparked curiosity among fans, as the star’s visit to Jammu drew huge crowds and attention. While Akshay Kumar has not commented on the matter, the case underscores the importance of complying with traffic regulations—regardless of celebrity status.
