  2. It was formally registered under the J&K Cooperative Societies Act of 1960 on March 4, 1978. The Reserve Bank of India granted it Licence No. ACD.J&K 114P on August 14, 1978, authorizing the bank to engage in banking operations across India.
  3. The bank inaugurated its journey from its registered office and its first branch located at Moti Bazar, Jammu, commencing business operations on October 3, 1978. Initially, the bank’s foundation rested on 738 shareholders and a modest share capital totaling ₹1.96 lakh, with the government contributing ₹1.00 lakh.
  4. The governing body, known as the Board of Directors, is elected for a three-year term by the shareholders through elections, overseeing the bank’s operations. Initially, the bank’s operations were confined to the municipal boundaries of Jammu City, but it has since broadened its reach to encompass the entire Jammu Province.
