Union Government Enhances Tourism Infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir
The Ministry of Tourism, under various schemes such as Swadesh Darshan, National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD), and Assistance to Central Agencies for Tourism Infrastructure Development, is providing financial aid to state governments, Union Territory administrations, and central agencies to develop tourism infrastructure across India, including Jammu and Kashmir.
Revamped Swadesh Darshan Scheme Aims for Sustainable Tourism
The Swadesh Darshan scheme has been upgraded to Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0) to promote sustainable and responsible tourism. This initiative adopts a tourist and destination-centric approach, focusing on enhancing infrastructure while maintaining ecological balance and cultural integrity.
Basholi Identified as Key Tourism Destination
Under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, the Ministry of Tourism has selected Basholi in Jammu and Kashmir as a significant tourism destination for development. This recognition aims to enhance the region’s tourism potential, boost local economies, and preserve its cultural heritage.

Sanctioned Projects to Strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s Tourism
