Contrary to government claims of equal treatment to Kashmir and Jammu regions, and despite various “employment generation” schemes, unemployment in Jammu region is way higher than in Kashmir.
Here is what statistics say:
In Jammu and Kashmir state, among registered unemployed youth, there are
- 390 illiterates
- 5357 middle-pass
- 21530 matriculates
- 26213 12th pass
- 3286 diploma holders
- 17351 graduates
- 2877 professional and technical degree holders
- 6586 postgraduates
Comparing Srinagar and Jammu districts, while in Srinagar the number of unemployed youth is 5985, Jammu district shockingly has 11072 unemployed youth.
Such a figure has unmasked the claims of the helmsmen about Jammu getting its due share in employment and development related projects.
The erstwhile PDP-BJP government had underlined various schemes for youth. However, it always remained reluctant to share the details about the number of youth from Jammu who were benefited by such schemes.
