After working 8 years in the US, Shashank a father of a 6-months old baby girl, came back to his homeland to prepare for civil services exam.
Shashank shares that phase of his life in these words,
“After finishing my studies, I worked in a top MNC in US for eight years and also worked in countries like New Zealand for three years. It was a highly paid job and I had a comfortable job but I decided to return and prepare for civil services exam”
Determined to serve his own people in J&K, he even sold his 3 BHK flat in Pune and moved back to Jammu.
He tells that it was not easy for him to study for long hours at a stretch at the beginning. He also attended some coaching classes in Delhi for six months in Delhi.
In his first attempt in 2016, he could not qualify. But this was not enough to discourage his determined spirits.
He kept studying for 10-12 hours daily for his next attempt. In the process, he also shunned distractions like social networking sites.
It was due to his persistent efforts that he got 907th rank this year and now he hopes to serve in the Indian Revenue Services.
Shashank’s only advice is, “Determination and hard work is the only way to get success,” he said. “If you’re focused towards your goals, the results will come automatically”
