Jammu & Kashmir Announces Major Bureaucratic Shake-Up: 22 Officers Transferred in Big Administrative Reshuffle

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring and posting 22 senior officers across the Union Territory in a move aimed at strengthening governance and improving departmental efficiency.

According to an official order issued by the General Administration Department, the reshuffle includes 20 IAS officers and two JKAS officers, reflecting one of the most extensive bureaucratic reorganisations in recent months.

Key IAS Officers Get Major Responsibilities

Senior bureaucrat Ashwani Kumar, IAS (AGMUT: 1992) has been appointed as Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Power Development Department. He will also hold the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Mining Department.

Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma, IAS (AGMUT: 1994), currently Financial Commissioner (ACS), Tourism Department, will now also oversee the Agriculture Production Department as Administrative Secretary.

In another important move, Shailendra Kumar, IAS (AGMUT: 1995) has been transferred and posted as Financial Commissioner (ACS), Finance Department.

Multiple Departments See Leadership Changes

M. Raju, IAS (AGMUT: 2005), serving as Commissioner/Secretary, GAD, will additionally handle the Health & Medical Education Department.

R. Alice Vaz, IAS (AGMUT: 2005) has been posted as Commissioner/Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department. She will also hold the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Information Department.

Meanwhile, Yasha Mudgal, IAS (AGMUT: 2007) has been transferred as Commissioner/Secretary, Cooperatives Department.

Focus on Youth, Sports, and Technology

Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, IAS (AGMUT: 2009) has been appointed Commissioner/Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Department.

Dr. Piyush Singla, IAS (AGMUT: 2012), Secretary, IT Department, will also hold additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Public Grievances Department.

From the JKAS cadre, Babila Rakwal has been posted as Commissioner/Secretary, Science and Technology Department.

Important Field-Level Postings Announced

The government has also made key district-level appointments:

  • Anjali Sehrawat, IAS (AGMUT: 2013) – Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission
  • Nidhi Malik, IAS (AGMUT: 2013) – Inspector General of Registration, J&K
  • Owais Ahmed, IAS (AGMUT: 2014) – Director, Skill Development, J&K
  • Dr. Sagar D. Dattatray, IAS (AGMUT: 2014) – Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Kashmir

Deputy Commissioners Reshuffled Across Districts

Several districts in Jammu and Kashmir have received new Deputy Commissioners:

  • Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan, IAS (RJ: 2016) – Deputy Commissioner, Budgam
  • Kumar Abhishek, IAS (AGMUT: 2016) – Deputy Commissioner, Reasi
  • Dr. Bilal Mohiud Din Bhat, IAS (AGMUT: 2017) – Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag
  • Minga Sherpa, IAS (AGMUT: 2017) – Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur
  • Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, IAS (AM: 2017) – Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla
  • Shahzad Alam, IAS (AGMUT: 2019) – Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam
  • Krishan Lal, JKAS – Deputy Commissioner, Doda

Additional Strategic Appointments

Akriti Sagar, IAS (AGMUT: 2016) has been appointed Managing Director, National Health Mission, J&K, and will also serve as Special Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department.

Harvinder Singh, IAS (AGMUT: 2019) has been posted as Director, Employment, J&K. He will also hold the additional charge of CEO, Mission Youth and Mission Director, Mission YUVA.
