The special train service between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and New Delhi has received an overwhelming response, recording 100 per cent occupancy on its very first day of operation, as New Year travel peaks across the country. With heavy demand from pilgrims and holiday travellers, the train is almost fully booked for the coming days as well.
To handle the festive and winter holiday rush, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway introduced a special reserved train (04082/04081) operating between Katra and New Delhi from December 27 to January 1. The initiative aims to provide smooth and comfortable travel for devotees visiting the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi during the busy New Year period.
According to railway officials, the maiden run of train number 04082 on December 28 was highly successful. The train operated strictly as per schedule and helped effectively manage the surge in passenger traffic.
“On the very first day, the train achieved 100 per cent occupancy, and all tickets were booked within the first few days of announcement. This clearly reflects passengers’ trust in the Indian Railways,” an official said.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, while commenting on the initiative, said there is a visible sense of satisfaction and happiness among passengers. “This special train has been started keeping in mind the New Year rush and winter holidays. When the right trains are introduced at the right time, passengers feel relieved, and it strengthens the bond of trust between the railways and the public,” he said.
He further added that more special trains will be introduced from time to time in the Jammu Division to ensure passenger convenience and better connectivity, especially during peak travel seasons.
