Sulai Honey & Bhaderwahi Rajma in Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his popular radio programme Mann Ki Baat, applauded the recent achievement of Jammu and Kashmir—where Sulai Honey from Ramban and Bhaderwahi Rajma from Doda have been granted the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

The Prime Minister described this recognition as a proud moment for the region, bringing national and international attention to these authentic and traditional products.

The GI tag has significantly elevated the brand value of both Sulai Honey and Bhaderwah Rajma, opening new opportunities in domestic and global markets. Experts believe that this certification will not only protect the originality and purity of these products but will also create promising avenues for exports.

With rising demand across India and abroad, farmers and producers are expected to benefit through increased income and enhanced market reach. Officials also note that this development will support the broader socio-economic growth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sulai Honey and Bhaderwahi Rajmash officially received the GI tag on August 30, 2023. In Ramban district alone, more than 600 individuals are engaged in beekeeping, and this recognition is expected to further strengthen their livelihoods and boost rural prosperity.
