Official Clarification by Finance Department
The Finance Department issued the clarification following multiple representations from employees and departments seeking clarity on the allowance enhancement after the DA increase.
After thorough examination, it confirmed that the new CEA and Hostel Subsidy limits are effective from January 1, 2024, in accordance with existing policy conditions outlined in G.O. No. 473-F of 2019.
The circular also amended clause (xvi) of the same government order, specifying that:
“The CEA and Hostel Subsidy shall be admissible in respect of children studying from three classes before Class I up to Class 12 (irrespective of nomenclature of class).”
This ensures inclusivity for children studying in pre-primary, primary, and secondary levels across recognized institutions.
