According to the Daily Excelsior, Jammu is going to get a cricket stadium of international standards. For that matter, the development of already existing multipurpose MA Stadium into an International standard Cricket Stadium will go a long way in helping the talented cricketers to shine at the National Level.
According to news report, the City of Temples, will get this Stadium (the renovation/construction work of which is going on) soon in the month of February 2019. and renovations for the project are already going on. Here are some facts about the stadium:
The renovation and rebuilding project has been taken up under the Prime Minister’s Special Package of around Rs 50 crore, the supervision of which is being undertaken by the National Projects Construction Corporation, NPCC.
Once finished, the stadium will have a pavilion, with gymnasium, conference halls, open VIP, Media and Players Zones and Galleries in addition to the customary dressing and changing rooms.
The stadium will have a seating capacity of 20000 including seats in VIP galleries.
The stadium would have well-established match referee rooms, umpires rooms, medical rooms and dope test rooms in a modernised fashion.
Tenders worth Rs 32 crore have already been issued for construction and renovation of pavilion structure around the stadium.
An additional tendering of around Rs 18 crores is ready to be issued for construction of turf wickets and floodlights.
This stadium, whenever it becomes functional, will be a boon to cricketers of the state and the region considering the failure of Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association in constructing the much-hyped stadium in Bajalta, which was proposed in 2011, but never saw daylights.
