In a significant announcement for job seekers, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has disclosed a total of 17,953 Govt jobs across 32 in J&K Govt. departments. This information was officially tabled in the Legislative Assembly.

The data, presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in reply to a question from PDP legislator Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, breaks down the vacancies into 2,960 gazetted and 14,993 non-gazetted posts under the direct recruitment quota.

J&K Govt Jobs: Recruitment Process Already Underway

In a positive development for applicants, the government has already initiated the process to fill these J&K government jobs. Chief Minister Abdullah, who also holds charge of the General Administration Department (GAD), stated that in the last one year:

• 465 posts across eight departments have been referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for recruitment.
• 3,795 posts across 20 departments have been referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB).

Department-Wise Breakdown of J&K Govt. Vacancies

• Health and Medical Education Department: Topping the list with 7,285 vacancies (1,985 gazetted, 5,300 non-gazetted).
