UPSC Result 2025: Pride for Jammu & Kashmir as 17 Candidates Crack India’s Toughest Exam

The announcement of the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 results has brought a moment of pride and celebration to Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 17 candidates from the region have successfully cleared one of India’s most challenging and prestigious examinations, once again highlighting the growing academic and administrative talent emerging from the Union Territory.

The results were officially declared on Friday by the UPSC, marking a significant achievement for aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir who competed against thousands of candidates across the country.

Jammu & Kashmir Shines in UPSC Civil Services Result 2025

Among the successful candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, Suvan Sharma secured the highest rank from the region at 148, followed by Towseef Ahmad Ganaie, who achieved rank 254.

Irfan Ahmad Lone:
Irfan Ahmad Lone from Bandipora, visually impaired since birth, cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination through determination and perseverance, becoming an inspiration for aspirants across Jammu & Kashmir.

Towseef Ahmad Ganie:
Towseef Ahmad Ganie from Pulwama, son of a labourer and a veterinarian by profession, cleared UPSC in his second attempt, proving that hard work and resilience can overcome financial hardships.

Suvan Sharma:
Suvan Sharma from Jammu son of Dr T R Raina ex HoD Blood Bank GMC Jammu and Nirmal Sharma (Retd- IAS), currently serving in the Indian Railway Medical Service, cleared UPSC after earlier qualifying several competitive exams, continuing a strong academic legacy.  

Sugandha Gupta:
Sugandha Gupta from daughter of Virender Gupta (JKAS) and Anjana Gupta, resident of Shakti Nagar, Jammu achieved success in her first UPSC attempt, attributing her accomplishment to disciplined preparation, consistent effort, and strong academic focus.

Ritika Renu Bhan:
Ritika Renu Bhan, a Kashmiri Pandit originally from Shopian, secured AIR 456 in UPSC 2025, reflecting dedication and perseverance in one of India’s toughest exams.

Akash Jaggi
Akash Jaggi , son of Daleep Jaggi (retired Principal) and brother of DySP Shivam Jaggi, is a resident of Mohalla Khorinar, Poonch.

Dr Koh-e-Safa
Dr Koh-e-Safa (AIR-763) is the daughter of Mehmood Chowdhary, Principal & Session Judge.

Mohd Ajaz Ul-Rehman
Mohd Ajaz Ul-Rehman (AIR-869) is son of former MLA Poonch, Shah Mohd Tantray.

Muneeb Afzal Parrah
Muneeb Afzal Parrah, who has secured AIR-581, is a resident of Krandigam, Bijbehara, Anantnag.

Meanwhile, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have congrulated the successful candidates. Interestingly, a few among them had already cleared earlier competitive examinations and are currently serving in administrative roles, showing their continued dedication toward joining India’s top civil services.

958 Candidates Selected for Top Government Services

This year, the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 recommended 958 candidates for appointment to various services of the Government of India. The selection was based on candidates’ combined performance in the Preliminary Examination, the Main Written Examination, and the Personality Test (Interview).

The category-wise selection includes:

  • 317 candidates from General category
  • 104 candidates from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
  • 306 candidates from Other Backward Classes (OBC)
  • 158 candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC)
  • 73 candidates from Scheduled Tribes (ST)

Additionally, the commission has prepared a reserve list of 258 candidates across different categories to fill future vacancies if required.

Recruitment to India’s Most Prestigious Services

Through the UPSC Civil Services Examination, candidates are selected for several prestigious government services, including:

  • Indian Administrative Service (IAS)
  • Indian Police Service (IPS)
  • Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
  • Indian Revenue Service (IRS)

Apart from these, successful candidates are also recruited into several Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ central services, playing a crucial role in governance and administration across the country.

Vacancies Reported for Civil Services 2025

For the 2025 examination cycle, the Government of India has reported the following vacancies:

  • 180 posts in IAS
  • 55 posts in IFS
  • 150 posts in IPS
  • 507 posts in various Group ‘A’ services
  • 195 posts in Group ‘B’ services

These positions will be filled based on candidates’ rank, category, and service preferences.

One of India’s Toughest Exams

The UPSC Civil Services Examination is widely regarded as one of the toughest competitive exams in India. Every year, lakhs of aspirants apply, but only a small fraction successfully clear all three stages of the examination.

For aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir, the success of these 16 candidates serves as a powerful inspiration, proving that dedication, perseverance, and hard work can overcome any challenge.

Where to Check UPSC Result 2025

The final merit list containing the names and roll numbers of successful candidates has been uploaded on the official UPSC website.

According to the commission:

  • Marksheets of all candidates will be available online within 15 days.
  • The marksheets will remain accessible for 30 days.

Successful candidates will now move to the next stage where services will be allocated based on rank, category, and preferences.
