Ravinder Singh shooter ISSF World Championships 2025

Naib Subedar Ravinder Singh, a 29-year-old star shooter from the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU), Mhow, received a hero’s welcome in his hometown Bishnah, Jammu, after securing gold in the Men’s 50m Free Pistol event at the ISSF World Championships held at the Egypt International Olympic City Range. His exceptional performance has placed India firmly on the global shooting map.

Coming from Bishnah, Ravinder entered the event competing against 47 top international shooters. Despite starting with a modest score of 93, he displayed immense composure and mental strength. What followed was a brilliant comeback, shooting 98, 94, 95, 93, and crowning the round with an impressive 96.

With a final tally of 569 points, he secured the top podium position, outperforming South Korea’s Kim Cheongyong (556) and Individual Neutral Athlete Anton Aristarkhov (556). His consistency, precision, and resilience were on full display throughout the competition.

What makes Ravinder’s victory extraordinary is his limited preparation time. Spending more than two weeks away from training due to the birth of his daughter, he had barely 4–5 days of practice before leaving for Egypt.

Yet, his discipline and years of dedication enabled him to deliver one of the finest performances of his career. His achievement reflects his unwavering commitment to the sport, even in challenging personal circumstances.

Team India Secures Silver with Ravinder’s Contribution

Ravinder’s brilliance extended beyond his individual event. His performance played a crucial role in India winning the silver medal in the 50m Free Pistol team event. Teaming up with Kamaljeet (540) and Yogesh Kumar (537), the Indian trio secured 1646 points, finishing just two points behind South Korea, who claimed gold.

Ravinder, who also won a National Games silver medal earlier this year, expressed heartfelt gratitude after his victory. He said, “This is not my personal achievement but a win for everyone who supported me. I am thankful to my family and the Army for always standing by me.”

His success sparked celebrations in Bishnah, where hundreds of residents gathered to honor their local hero.

Ravinder Singh’s gold medal at the ISSF World Championships marks a career-defining milestone and a proud moment for India. His ability to overcome challenges, compete at the highest level, and bring home top honors demonstrates his remarkable talent and determination.

With his latest achievement, Ravinder has not only elevated India’s position in world shooting but also inspired countless aspiring shooters across the country.
