The Jammu and Kashmir government has disclosed that approximately 550 medical officer positions remain vacant across the Union Territory. The recruitment process to fill 181 of these positions is currently in progress to strengthen healthcare services in the region.
Government’s Commitment to Filling Medical Vacancies
Minister of Agriculture Production, Javed Ahmed Dar, while responding on behalf of the Health Minister in the Assembly, addressed queries raised by National Conference MLAs Dr. Sajad Shafi and Javed Hassan Beig. He acknowledged the pressing need to fill vacant positions and assured the House that the recruitment process was moving forward efficiently.
Recruitment Through Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission
The Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has taken charge of the recruitment drive for 181 medical officers. Minister Dar assured that these newly selected officers would be posted in health institutions facing severe staff shortages across the Union Territory.
To further strengthen the healthcare infrastructure, the department is also preparing a waitlist of 91 additional medical officers. These professionals will be strategically deployed to underserved areas in Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring enhanced healthcare accessibility in rural and remote regions.
