The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday confirmed that it purchased 133 luxury vehicles during FY 2024–25, triggering political debate and public curiosity. However, the administration firmly stated that every vehicle was procured strictly under approved financial norms, dismissing allegations of misuse of public money.

The clarification came in a written reply to BJP MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania, where Transport Minister Satish Sharma revealed that the State Motor Garages Department acquired 133 vehicles in 2024–25, a sharp rise from just 10 vehicles in 2023–24.

Rejecting claims that the purchases added pressure on state finances, the Transport Minister said all acquisitions—including spare parts—strictly followed the General Financial Rules (GFR).

He reaffirmed that every purchase went through proper approvals, documentation, and financial scrutiny, ensuring transparency and accountability.
