Bowing to the public pressure, the state tourism department has revoked its order to shut down the separate social media accounts of Jammu.
The Twitter and Instagram handles have resumed its functioning to promote the religious and tourist places in 10 districts of the Jammu region.
Following public outcry, there will be now three separate social media handles in J&K, one each for Jammu, Kashmir valley and Ladakh, and the content will also be shared with the common account named J&K Tourism.

“Both the directorates (Jammu and Kashmir) will continue posting on their individual social media accounts and will ensure that the content uploaded is also immediately shared on the common handle of the department,” says an order issued the publicity wing of the tourism department.
During a publicity committee meeting of the tourism department on March 18, it was decided to shut down the separate social media handles for the promotion of tourism and create a single one.
When contacted, Tourism Director, Jammu, OP Bhagat said, “The Twitter handle of Jammu is functioning again. Now, all three regions will have separate handles,” Bhagat said.
