In a survey conducted in 2013, by National Crime Records Bureau, there are 64% chances of your death if you meet a traffic accident in Jammu Kashmir. The probability is quite low in the rest of India with only 36.4% chances of an accident turning fatal.
Between the years 2004 and 2017, road accidents have killed more people in the state than militancy ever did!
Within a span of 7 years, between 2010 and 2017, total number of vehicles in our state have doubled from 7 lakh to 14 lakh.
Up to June 2017, 363 people have already died in 2544 accidents so far in the state.

70% of traffic accidents, this year, have happened here in Jammu division: Out of 2544, Jammu alone shares 1783 accidents with only 761 in Kashmir and Ladakh region put together. It clearly shows that traffic accidents is a serious issue of concern here.
72% accident deaths of the state occurred in Jammu division this year: Out of 363 total accident deaths in the state so far this year, 263 were reported in Jammu division while the rest in Kashmir and Ladakh together.
