The vibrant culture, crafts, and soul of Jammu & Kashmir came alive on Kartavya Path as the Union Territory’s tableau mesmerised spectators during the 77th Republic Day Parade in the national capital.
Celebrating centuries-old traditions, the Jammu & Kashmir tableau offered a breathtaking glimpse into the region’s artistic legacy. At its centre stood the gleaming Samavaar, adorned with intricate metal engravings, symbolising the warmth of Kashmiri hospitality and craftsmanship.
The tableau showcased luxurious Kani shawls, woven with symbolic patterns passed down through generations, alongside hand-knotted carpets emerging from looms in perfect geometric harmony. Exquisitely carved walnut-wood artefacts reflected the patience and precision of master artisans who continue to keep these traditions alive.
Adding a burst of colour, papier-mâché creations glowed with vibrant hues, while Pahari miniature paintings, particularly the expressive Basohli style, highlighted the refined artistic sensibilities shaped by centuries of devotion and cultural exchange.
A striking visual of saffron blossoms—with delicate purple flowers and deep crimson strands—stood as a powerful symbol of Jammu & Kashmir’s timeless identity, deeply rooted in land, labour, and heritage.
The cultural spectacle was elevated by a soulful fusion of Rabab, Santoor, and flute, creating a resonant soundscape across Kartavya Path. Performers dressed in vibrant traditional attire brought the tableau to life through energetic folk dances.
The graceful Rouf, the powerful Kud, and spirited dance forms of Pahari, Bhadarwahi, and Gojri traditions reflected the region’s rich diversity, collective joy, and unbreakable cultural spirit—earning loud applause from the audience.
The Jammu & Kashmir tableau stood not just as a visual delight, but as a moving tribute to the artisans, performers, and communities who continue to preserve India’s living heritage.
