Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has taken strict action against those who defecate in the open or spread filth, intensifying its “Wall of Shame” campaign. Hoardings have been put up in different parts of the city to raise awareness about cleanliness. The Municipal Corporation has stated that anyone caught defecating in the open or littering will be fined, and their photo will be displayed on the “Wall of Shame.”
Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, along with schoolchildren and B.Ed college students, conducted a special cleanliness drive. The walls and places in the city that had been dirtied by open defecation were cleaned and painted by the children. The students also created colorful paintings to spread the message of cleanliness.
Additionally, street plays were performed at various locations to make people aware. The plays explained the benefits of cleanliness and the harmful effects of spreading filth in simple language so that the message could reach every section of the city.
Dr. Devansh Yadav said that this initiative is not just about imposing fines but about developing a habit of cleanliness among people. He appealed to all citizens not to defecate in the open and to help the Municipal Corporation keep the city clean. The corporation’s initiative is receiving widespread appreciation from the public. The aim of the campaign is to make Jammu completely Open Defecation Free (ODF) and a clean, well-maintained city.
