Udhampur village gets its first road since Independence

People of a village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district are getting a road constructed for the first time. Villagers from Marta Panchayat were waiting for road since independence reported by Times Of India.

Locals faced a lot of problems due to poor condition of roads. Students had to walk through fields for about 6-7 kilometers to reach their school. The work of road construction is done under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

A 73-year-old man from the village expressed his happiness over the road construction. He said, ‘As a child, I’ve been told that a road would be constructed in the village but it took years. Now when I am getting my old-age pension, we finally got the road.’
