Why Traffic Regulations Are Necessary

The Yatra attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims, leading to an exponential increase in the volume of vehicles within Jammu City. Overcrowded roads, potential security threats, and risks of traffic gridlock necessitate stringent regulation and dynamic rerouting. As a result, several key arteries in the city will be temporarily restricted, rerouted, or marked as no-parking zones during convoy movement.

Let’s explore the full plan in detail.

Restricted Traffic Routes During Convoy Movement for Amarnath Yatra 2025

To facilitate uninterrupted movement of Yatra convoys, several routes will be closed to civilian vehicles during the prescribed hours of convoy travel. These restrictions apply daily throughout the duration of the Yatra.

List of Restricted Roads:

  1. Canal Head → Shri Banda Bahadur Chowk
  2. R&B Bridge Belicharana → 4th Tawi Bridge
  3. Fly-over near GCW Gandhi Nagar → Asia Crossing / Bikram Chowk
  4. Panama Chowk → Hotel Asia (via Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services)
  5. PHQ → Bikram Chowk (via Jammu University)
  6. Warehouse → Bikram Chowk
  7. B.C. Road from Bus Stand to Manda, including:
    • Indira Chowk → K.C. Crossing
    • Maheshpora Chowk → Shakuntala Crossing

    • Sarwal / Subash Nagar → Rehari Chowk
    • Exchange Road → Rehari Chowk
    • Amphalla Jail Road → Amphalla Chowk

These areas will be cordoned off by traffic personnel during convoy times, and commuters are advised to use alternate roads or plan their travel outside convoy hours.
